Rwanda is also home to the rare Mountain Gorillas and in this Itinerary, we will take you for a Gorilla tracking experience, Game drives in the parks as well as participate in cultural and community tours where you will learn the different cultures and historical ways of life of the people of Rwanda.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to your Hotel

    On arrival to Kigali, you will meet our tour representative who will thereafter transfer you to a hotel for an overnight stay on Bed and Breakfast. Depending on your arrival time, we may have a city tour of Kigali where we may visit the genocide memorial center at Gisozi as well as the local craft markets.

  • Day 2: Drive to Akagera National Park

    In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Akagera National Park for wildlife viewing. This is the only park in Rwanda where you can do a game drive and view savannah based wild animals. The Park is one of the most complex Savannah ecosystems in Rwanda and in East Africa as a whole with abundant bird-life, beautiful landscapes, and the big game animals. Upon arrival, you will go for a canoe ride on Lake Ihema which will reward you with stunning views of the Park’s water-loving animals.

  • Day 3: Full day Game viewing in Akagera National Park

    After breakfast, depending on the success of the previous day, we will have a game drive through the park and return to the lodge for lunch, thereafter return to Kigali for either a city tour to the genocide memorial center at Gisozi as well as the local craft markets, or head to your hotel and relax as you prepare to explore the country’s other tourist attractions.

  • Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali for a Kigali City Tour

    After breakfast, depending on the success of the previous day, we will have a game drive through the park and return to the lodge for lunch, thereafter return to Kigali for either a city tour to the genocide memorial center at Gisozi as well as the local craft markets, or head to your hotel and relax as you prepare to explore the country’s other tourist attractions.

  • Day 5: Transfer from Kigali to Parc National des Volcanoes

    After breakfast, we shall head to Nyamata and Ntarama genocide memorial sites which would take us about an hour from the hotel. After, we shall drive back to the hotel for lunch as we prepare to drive to Musanze and spend a night close to Parc National des Volcanoes warming up for gorilla tracking the following day. The Gorilla tracking experience in Rwanda is truly a rewarding experience where you will get closer and interact with these giant yet gentle apes; the Mountain Gorillas

  • Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Parc National des Volcanoes

    After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters in Kinigi where your guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you of allocating you a gorilla family to track. You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the gorilla tracking formality and how everything will be conducted from the start to the finish point; then you start your ultimate Gorilla tracking experience, enjoy an encounter with the gorillas observing them. Return afterward for lunch at your hotel or at Ruhengeri. Time permitting, we shall have an excursion to explore the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo in the region or just conduct a village walk in Ruhengeri or visit the Iby’Iwacu traditional village, where the local community displays the traditional ways of living; Return to Kinigi Guest House for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Day 7: Optional activities and transfer to Kigali

    After early morning breakfast, you may either be transferred to Kigali for your International flight or if time allows you may participate on other optional activities depending on your departure time.
    Optional activities may include a walk to visit the Golden Monkeys. Listed as “endangered”, the habituated groups of about 40 individuals are the only ones to be found in Africa.

    Afterward, transfer to the airport to catch up with your international flight.

Rwanda is a small, landlocked country in eastern/central Africa of approximately 26,340 sq km. It has five prominent volcanoes and 23 lakes as well as several rivers. A large part of the country has an elevation of between 1,500 and 2,500 meters AMSL.
